It's official, you completed your tax return and you are getting a refund. Now what? You have many options; let's consider one that will guarantee a return from your "return".
Stage a room in your home! You know how good it feels to get a makeover. That's the feeling you can get giving your room a 'makeover' by staging it. What exactly do you need to do? First step is de-clutter. Grab a large trash bag and a storage box. Throw away the junk you have been collecting and store away the excess. Second step is clean. If the job is overwhelming, hire someone. Next step is de-personalize. Don't worry, remember the storage box in the first step? You can add to it for now. We will return to this process. Fourth step is re-decorate. Depending on the room you chose, you may be buying new throw pillows, window treatments, painting, etc. Finally, rearrange the furniture, pictures on the wall, accessories/decorations you have displayed. Think five star resort during this process. You want personality without overdoing it. Take some, not all, of the items in your storage box. The beauty of this; when you need a " pick me up" in a few months, remove some of the accessories and switch them with others in the box. You get a brand new feeling once again.
