Hi Joni, I just love those early reading programs for children that get them to love reading at a very young age. Thank you too for the re-blog. Spreading the word is so appreciated.

Joni,

If we were a few hours east, I'd bring the girls to the library to enjoy thtat reading. We do it in Austin, and it is a very good time

I love the title "Once Upon A Story".  This is such a good thing for the children to have access to. Our library has something similar to this and it is very popular.

Hi Joni,

I love these library sponsored reading events for children.  I remember doing one when I was a kid.  Getting little stickers after each book I finished ... all leading up to an "accomplishment pin" that I received and could proudly wear on my jacket :)

The end. Happily ever after. The local library is often the first and last place checked as the out of town, new to the area wants a quality literary buffet of books. Leave money when a person dies to the local library with the type of books put on the shelves that the deceased loved, lived, cherished.

Judith: Of course you do, darling. All Princesses love a good fairy tale! ♥

Dorie: I think libraries across Texas gather together to come up with great ideas to provide to the communites. I have noticed from Bob Gilbert's blog that the Katy, Texas library offers many of the same services that ours does.

Larry and Sheila: Absolutely!!

Michael: Yes it is, and they have other programs for teens, and some geneology and computer classes for adults. Our library ROCKS!

Scott: I can't wait to have a grandbaby to bring!! :))) One of these days....

Richie: Of course the kids want to hear you read! You're dad!! That's awesome!!

Charita: I believe this story hour is designed for stay at home moms to get their children out to be with other children, and to help that parent foster a love for reading in their child. Those who attend daycare already participate in reading programs.

Betty: Libraries are too cool!!

Carie: Awesome! I remember getting different colored stars on a reading certificate. :)

Andrew: Many families donate hardback books to the library to assist them as well. ☺

What a great way to get kids involved in their community and reading! I truly believe that reading is a great hobby that is being lost and if we can get kids to understand how important and wonderful it is, we may be able to go back to it.

Trisha: If you can teach a kid to love to read. They can travel the world over, and experience ANYTHING! That is the greatness of a good book!!

What a fun library program and anything that gets the kids to love visiting the library will also foster a love of books and reading.  We're lucky enough in Suffern to have a super library with lots of great programs and events for all ages.  It's one of my grandkids favorite places to visit when they come to grandma's.
