I'm Sorry But I'm Meeting an Agent Right Now to See the Home
I got a call yesterday morning around ten o'clock, but I missed the call. I didn't hear the phone ring at the time, but a few minutes later I heard the phone ring and couldn't get to it. By the time I got to the phone, I saw the missed call indicator and a voice mail message indicator. While the phone was in my hand it rang and I was able to answer it. It was a rental prospect that I ended up referring to another agent.
But here's the deal.
The calls were so close together that I assumed that the 3rd caller was the same person that had left the message. This morning I noticed that the voice mail indicator showed that I had voice message. I figured that I just forgot to delete it from yesterday so I checked the message and lo and behold it was a buyer prospect that was interested in a particular house.
So I call her shortly after 8am this morning and guess what? She was standing in front of the home that she called me about and was waiting for another agent so show up so they could view the property.
I dropped the ball on that one, but it happens on occassion (rarely with me, but it does happen) and I can deal with that. But what really bothered me was that this person applied for a rental property from me about a year ago and she remembered me and chose to call me first. I felt bad about that but I understood that she moved on to seek another agent. It took me a whole day to call her back and that's unheard of for me. I typically return a call within minutes and at the very latest within in hour unless there are extenuating circumstances.
I'll be a lot more diligent from here on in when it comes to checking my voicemail messages.
