Normally I’m a homebody on Sunday but I got an invite to join an event at Chocolopolis in Seattle. My friend and coworker Barbie Van Horn hosts a monthly event at different shops around Seattle that feature artisans from around the globe that create fine chocolates from bean to bar.
Wonderful events like these remind me that “local” means something so different than it did before social media. People collect around ideas, causes, passions, and interests. That’s the new local.
If you like fine chocolate, checkout Barbies blog at: FindingFineChocolate.com
Fine Chocolate is Barbie’s passion and she has made many friends with chocolate lovers, cacao farmers, and fine chocolate artisans from around the globe. These networking conversations lead to many opportunities. I love witnessing first hand this birth of possibility. It's a great example of connecting in this new age.
Definitely the thing to do with great chocolate is to savour it. Just let it melt in your mouth and enjoy!
Well... there's one exception. Absolutely the hottest thing to hit my tongue in like forever (yet strangely addicting) was Do Not Eat This Chocolate, from Lillie Belle Farms. Read the wrapper carefully (an over-generous helping of Aji Amarillo chilies and a splash of Chili Arbol) and take it seriously! Then be sure to pour yourself a tall glass of ice cold water before you taste it.
You’ve been warned! :O)
