Online broker Redfin took a look at how to sell homes more quickly and for more money. The folks at Redfin call themselves  "the real estate scientists" because they're data-driven number crunchers, not intuition-minded salespeople.

Selling Strategy #2:

Set your price to show up in web searches.

A September 2007 Redfin study found that online search filters affect traffic to a listing.  Because real estate sites filter on prices in increments of $25,000 or $50,000, listings priced at or below these increments - $250,000 rather than $251,000, for instance or $325,000 rather than $326,000 - get more traffic.

Moving the price down to a lower range can generate as much as 7.1 percent increase in online visits.*
