Among the many chartered clubs in Sun City West is one that can help singles and couples alike enjoy their Saturday evenings.
The Hillcrest Dance and Social Club of Sun City West sponsors a ballroom dance almost every Saturday night year round. The dances are held in the ballroom at the R. H. Johnson Social Hall, which has a beautiful hardwood floor. A variety of musicians and DJs play a mix of "big band" and more contemporary music; water, ice and coffee are available. Jackets and ties are optional, but no shorts, t-shirts or tank tops are allowed.
Residents of Sun City West must join the dance club in order to attend; annual dues are $10 and dance admission for members is $4. Guests are welcome also; admission for them is $6.
Lessons are provided before the dances from October to April for no additional charge. The instructors are from the Avalon and Ambient Ballroom; frequently the lessons are taught by Rober Blain, the Ballroom's owner.
On March 16, 2013, the club's dance will feature a St. Patrick's Day theme, with music by Michael Lawrence Carollo; wearing of the green is encouraged! Dance lesson (rumba) at 6:15, dance 7:00-10:00.
