There are many things we could look at from a negative perspective in Feng Shui.  Or we can use INTENTION and some Western Methods to help correct our spaces.  What to do when a client does not want to put ANY money into a space?  We do the best we can and work with it.

These particular clients lived in the beautiful part of New York City called Tudor City.  If you did not see the pictures of this lovely Historical part of New York, you can take a look here:

My clients, a husband and wife, had recently left a 4 bedroom, 2 bath home in sunny Florida to relocate back to Manhattan. They had formerly lived in Tudor City and were delighted to find a studio there that was available to rent.  They did plan to move, however, when a one bedroom became available and did not want to put any money into the place they were renting.  This made a New York City Feng Shui Studio difficult.

I have her permission to post the interior of her room but because her personal belongings are in there I have chosen not to except for the kitchen and her views from her window.  This was a one room studio, 210 Square Feet.  A tight squeeze for two people!  Describing the room to get a better picture:  The walls and ceiling were all white, there was no artwork hung.  There was a trundle bed (it pulled out from underneath) and a computer table with not only the computer but a printer and fax machine-all facing the bed.

Feng Shui New York City Studio by Feng Shui Long Island ConsultantThe Lobby of this beautiful, historic hotel.  Many fine detailing in the woodwork and all throughout.  The chandelier shows the 12 signs of the Zodiac.

Some issues with Pre-War Historic homes were the lack of outlets.  There were two in this New York studio leaving many wires running under the bed; they were sleeping poorly with so much electromagnetic energy.  There was also construction going on which is being fought by the tenants and owners; another Manhattan high rise that would obstruct their view of the water.  And there was nothing to offset all that Water element, further adding to being tired all the time.

I felt that the most important thing to do while waiting for a one bedroom to come on the market was to address this place as HOME and to feel blessed to have it.  These words, she said, had an impact on her.  She had some lovely artwork from her home and I felt that hanging it would help add elements and deflect the eye from so much WHITE.  And help address the water issues.

Some of the wires would be able to be wrapped in those specially designed items that hold wires inside a small plastic piece that runs along the wall.  They could then be sent to the other outlet.  We also devised something simple and very inexpensive to cover the computer and all the other items there when they were going to sleep.

To help deflect the energy of the building that was going on we INTENTIONALLY pushed it away with MIRRORS.  And the one item I asked her to buy were curtains....not only were they in her FAME area but RED would also help deflect from so much water energy.  All the other elements were there.

The current cost of this apartment per month is $1,500; a one bedroom would be considerably more.  This is how we Feng Shui a New York City Condo...with addressing what we can with the elements, blessings and a lot of Intention.

Carole ~ What a beautiful building! That chandelier is fantastic looking in the picture; I'm sure in person it looked even better.  I can not even imagine 210 square feet of total living space!  I hope they get that one-bedroom they are hoping for!

Carole,  It really is very tiny! I can't believe how big the dishwasher looks in that tiny kitchen. Beautiful view except for all that construction....imagine how dark the apts will be once another highrise stands in front of them.

It sounds like you really worked your magic on this small space and I hope they follow your advice and then reap great benefits to their health and life.

Jo ...oh, and that chandelier is gorgeous!!

That is impressive that a couple is able to live (even as a short term rental) in such small space.  I am glad that you were able to help them make it more of a "home" until the 1 bedroom becomes available.

I can't imagine being able to help that tiny space.  The building certainly is beautiful, however, I think I would feel so closed in with such small living area.  I am sure they were happy to have you.

Just so charming Carole, these tiny city places - always possibilities. I love your words "..to address this place as HOME and to feel blessed to have it" - so important to honor where we are.

I dream of my very own tiny Paris apartment - if only for a month!

Carole - I feel so spoiled, 210 sq feet is so small.  A while back I had a studio on the market in an excellent area, great complex, great view good kitchen and bathroom, and still we had a hard time selling it because of the size!  Great job advising your clients! Beautiful building.

Carole - You are amazing with the heart and intentions you put into your clients.

I know of another person you were able to significantly help with these same words, "address this place as HOME and to feel blessed to have it.  And she too said, "These words, had an impact on her.

Thank you.

Love that view of the construction site. I could sit for hours watching something like that grow from nothing. Soon it will blossom into a beautiful building Real Estate...gotta love it!

Carole, that is very interesting. Small places sure are hard to work with in any capacity. It's hard to imagine that their studio is only a bit bigger than my bedroom! Eeek!  I was wondering why you wante dto cover the computer while they were sleeping? I am not very well versed in Feng Shui...

Carole- Oh my, that was a difficult situation! How does someone move from a 4 bedroom in Florida with room to a 210 sq ft apt in Manhattan? I just do not get it. For the electrical negative currents you can use rocks with symbols on them. We use them in our home around our computers, etc. Our Feng Shui consultant just painted the symbols on herself. They work wonders.

Hi Carole,
Your magic works again and again.  You helped these people "make it a home" instead of a temporary place to live.  What a gorgeous chandelier--love these old, historic hotels.

Carole, now I better understand the comments you leave on some of my posts. Southern Colorado must look huge compared to NYC. 210 feet  for how much? $1500 much money will get you a 3 bedroom / 2 bath with a 2 car garage and a yard here in Pueblo. Big difference in the views though.

Whew, it's done!!

Kathy, It was a historic luxury hotel...the rents are incredible in Manhattan and if that new highrise goes up, it will ruin their view.

Jo,I do hope they take the advice as well, it will warm up the spacIt needs some energy.

Gayle, It has some issues for such a small space but we work with what we can.

Deborah, I personally don't believe I'd be able to live in such a small space...but the area IS beautiful.

Joan, I think I would too however she was lucky to find this, the area is difficult to find openings, even at those prices.

Ah Deborah, Paris---Everything I thought it would be and more! Everyting is ART there.   I hear the rentals are not bad in the Latin Quarter, it's where my guide lived.  And call me, I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Marzena, New York City real estate is expensive, especially in this particular area.  And there are not many rent controlled apartments; to get a decent hotel room in the city these days costs over $250 per night (and that's a 2-3 star)

Robert, Oh, if only I could perform magic and make this place more comfortable!  But they can do a lot to enliven the space they have...and am hoping they do, they will feel better!  Thank you!

Jackie, Some people amaze me that they remember what I say....and remind me of it later!  I know where the flower market is but now it's separate stores.  It's where the old outdoor flea market used to be (which is now in Hell's Kitchen).  I have a HUGE ponytail plant that I bought there and had it shipped here years ago!

Joan, It sure is tiny.  And they're scarce!  This is why I don't live in Manhattan...$1,500 a month and construction.  The other apartment I showed was a really good sized one in the City.

Arina, Thank you, I love your posts as well and read recently about Cochlear Implants for your sister's child.  I've worked with many hearing impaired people years ago and they absolutely help!

Bradley, Thank you.  If she makes the changes I would be glad to show the space, it really wouldn't take much to change the energy here.

Lizette, I wouldn't want that dust and noise coming in.  And if they block the view of that apartment it will be so DARK in there, they will lose the beauty of it.  I see so much building going on in NY, it never stops.

Libby,Computers and TV's that are facing you have a reflective quality like mirrors....and electro magnetic energy.  It is best not to have that facing you when your body is 'open' in sleep at it's most vulnerable time.

Katerina, That's a good idea but I'd like to hide them, there are SO many of them.  And redirect whatever we can to go to the other outlet so it's not under the bed.  But thank you, that will come in handy.

Tom, Thank you so much, I have learned so much for everyone on here as well.  I am cleaning so much for the Chinese New Year I'll hardly have to do a spring cleaning :)!  Happy Chinese New Year to you as well.

Cynthia, The pictures inside did not nearly show how gorgeous the inside was.  The area has everything you need that you never have to leave it too.  I was absolutely facinated with this part of New York City and how people live there.

Dena, Manhattan prices are SO high...you get so much more living space for your money in your area!  The building here keeps on going and the rents and prices keep going up.

Michelle, Thank you so much for your comment and for stopping by.  It's nice to see the inside of an apartment or the "afters" but in this case I chose not to post the pictures.

Maria, I'm thrilled your home feels good, I know you worked hard on it and can't wait to see the "after" shots of all we discussed!  Thank you!

Carole-I had an apartment in Boston that was very similar to that in 1972.  It was so small I had to go outside to change my mind.  And even then it was over $700/month.  That was a fortune back then!  I know you just worked your magic and restored the energy in this place.  You always do.

Hi Carole,

Wow, what a tiny place I am not sure I could live in a place that small let alone with another person. They do have a beautiful view, it is to bad that there is all the construction in front of it. Your statement that they should address it as home is a very good one.

Carole- Yes today is the New Year (Chinese) so good I am writing this now......When we want to change things for the better it can be done with little or no money.....we just have to have desire and know what to change to.  Good thing you are out there showing people how to accomplish what they desire.  Happy New Year to you ......

Carol, That is so funny!  I imagine in Boston that same place would not cost about the same as this rental.  However, I LOVE Boston as well, I have such a wonderful time in that City and have been there more times then I can remember.  I bet that you loved living there!

Joanne, It IS a tight squeeze right now.  I'm hoping that a one bedroom becomes available for them and think it will when they address this place as HOME.

Trace, I cannot believe they would even consider a new high-rise there.  It would ruin that beautiful view (not to mention sunlight).  It's historic land, there should be some rules against it.

Kathy, I had a wonderful New Year, I am just getting to AR this morning!  I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday along with a terrific New Year that's coming!
