Clarksville TN Second Fastest Growing Area in America.

According to figures released this week by the Census Bureau, Clarksville’s Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) is the 2nd fastest growing in the entire nation. The growth rate over the MSA region-wide is 3.7 percent as reported by the Leaf Chronicle, Clarksville's local newspaper.
Growth

The figures are based on Census data

from the period July 2011 to July 2012. Clarksville is in an MSA with Christian and Trigg Counties in Kentucky. Clarksville TN is in Montgomery County and has more head counts in the entire region with a growth from 2010 to 2012 of 7%. Population estimates for 2012 are 184,468 showing a 4.3 percent growth over the previous year.

Montgomery County TN is ranked as 30th in the nation when comparing all counties in all states.

Where is this growth coming from?

It is coming from a variety of sources. Ft. Campbell KY is a big reason for the growth with active duty military and civilian support personnel. Also extended family tend to move close to their military family members because Clarksville is so conveniently located and offers good quality of life. Retirees find Clarksville to have an affordable cost of living and with its proximity to Ft Campbell, the military retirees have medical facilities close by. Interstate 24 makes travelling to many other large cities within a half days drive.

Because the population is growing, additional business services are needed. Plus schools in the area keep expanding giving new teachers opportunities that aren’t found in other areas. There is plenty of new construction going on providing jobs and housing for the growing populace.

Hi Joni, Metropolitan Statistical Area. This is the way the governments divides territories for classification on funding, etc. Our MSA has a lower FHA loan ceiling than Nashville because we are classified differently by population.

I am not sure if we should cheer for war to continue as it is obviously a economic builder in areas surrounding the bases, but on the other hand, we all know the statistics of just how much the war efforts have cost us.

There doesn't seem to be a win win to this one.

Mark, I haven't been used to traffic but we actually have some of it now.

Kevin, Ft. Campbell is about 15% of our market. Even in peace times the soldiers get involved in the community. We want our servicemen to come home.

James, We have had some new industry too. Our largest new plant is on hold though.

Michael, I'm ready to go and sell whatever they need to meet they needs and wants.

Go Air Assault! 101st Air Borne! Go Fort Campbell, That's a great reason from growth in your area, Debbie. Fort Campbell was my last duty station when I retired, and I did consider staying in Clarkville too. That's very nice area, and I enjoyed the Fishing on base too.

Jerry, It is a good place to live and many servicemen stay and make it their permanent home.

Scott, Of course that is the reason. I do believe in the area and talk it up so maybe that part helps.
