In recent months, I've noticed more and more real estate agents in Colroado Springs are using a different photo format for their MLS listings.  The photographer I work with has also started incorporating HDR (High Dynamic Range) format for exterior photos of my listings.  HDR is the merging of mutliple exposures and photos in HDR do look different.  The photos appear to have more color, depth, and dimension.  Most of my sellers prefer the traditional look vs. the HDR look when it comes to the exterior shot of their home.

I am seeing many listing photos with interior photos in the HDR format.  With the exception of a few, most of the MLS listings using HDR for interior shots do not look right and almost look fake.  Do you use HDR format for your listing photos?  Do you think it gives a true representation of what the home actually looks like to prospective home buyers? I included some examples below with the HDR (left column) vs. non-HDR (right column).

Patricia, I agree with you. The HDR does make the photos look fake and not real -- some overuse it to the point they look like artist renderings and not photographs. Only a few agents are using HDR, most of us continue to use realistic photos. Thanks for your post today, and for the photo examples, suggested.

Good afternoon Patricia,

If the photo's on the right are HDR it is what I would choose.

Make yourself a great day.

Thanks for stopping by Pamela.  I agree, they do look like artist renderings!

Hi Raymond.  The photos in the left column are the HDR shots and those on the right are the traditional photos.

I probably wouldn't only because of a possible conflict with uploading pictures. Maybe in the future.

One can overuse any "tip" item...I think it depends on the final effect.
