There's an app for that

Rarely a week goes by that you don't hear someone say "there's an app for that." On July 10th, 2008 Apple opened their 'App Store' and the way we use our phones was forever changed. Today, apps come in all shapes and sizes prices. Thousands (Tens of thousands? Hundreds of thousands?) of them have become available for just about any type of smart phone that you carry.

From the mundane, to the entertaining to the absolutely can not live without, if you have a smart phone, chances are that you have a few apps that you love. And I'll even bet you have a few that you use in your business.

So what are they?

Which apps do you find the most useful in your business? Let us know. Is it one of the three I've highlighted below? If it is, click on that app and give us a review of the app. If it's not one of these 3, check the Mobile apps section of Product Reviews and see if we have your favorite app on the list. And finally, if it's not on the list, please take a few minutes to add your favorite mobile app. That way all of your friends on ActiveRain will know what the best apps are out there to help their business.

Next weeks Product review newsletter will be all about the mobile apps that you use so please head over to the Product Reviews section on Mobile apps and tell us what's the best.

Do You Use Any of These?

No I have very few apps.  Maybe that is because I have not shopped for them.

I look at all the apps I have and I get shocked. I wonder whatever possessed me to purchase some of them at the time.

I have an app for my 'Horizon' reporting system. It's slow to use for the full report but handy for adding info on the fly.

Good to see an app for almost everything, now-a-days. And another good news for people like me who are Android addicts, these apps are good there, too. So, it's a product review of the app - not necessarily for Droid only. (Though not seen OpenHome app yet on Droid!)

I don't use many apps, and I've never paid for an app, only have free ones. Docusign, Facebook, twitter... and a couple of games, especially the addictive sudoku.

I have numerous apps on my cell phone.  A couple of my favorites are the Brightest Flashlight (I use that a lot in homes where the electric has been turned off) and I also love Photo Grid - it is a really cool app to make photo collages.

I'm a Gadget Freak, so have PLENTY of apps. Have "RealAlert" app for protection.

We love "Housesnap" which lets you snap a pic and then it looks up details from property appraiser and gives an estimate value.  Great for FSBOs!

I have an Android phone and I too hate paying for Apps.....though I may end up paying for Triplog, an app that allows to track driving and categorising it as Business or Personal.

I also use "Smart Compass" for clients who want to know which direction the entrance (Some eastern cultures have a preference for some directions), Realtor.ca for finding listings on the go when showing other properties, Navigation App for current traffic, TuneIn app for listening to Music. TheI use Facebook, Linkdin and Twitter apps to connect with clients and friends.

All apps are free....and I enjoy them!

I don't use any of these. I have other apps that work for me

I invited Brad Andersohn to make a presentation to our Alameda Association of Realtors, and the presentation was "There's an App for That". He had an amazing presentation. Many of our realtors were writing furiously --- some (such as me) on their Notes application on their iphone, and others on "old-fashioned" paper.

One of the slides showed 100 apps http://bradsdomain.com/top-100-ios-apps-for-real-estate/

Question: How Many iPad Apps Are in the App Store?

Answer: The App Store currently hosts 700,000 apps designed for iOS devices, including the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. Of these apps, 250,000 are designed specifically for the iPad

Guess I won't switch from iphone/ipad any time soon

The Supra System eKEY app, of course, which everyone is probably already using! The latest Supra keybox, iBox™ BT, adds Bluetooth® technology so it can communicate with newer smartphones without any additional hardware. A data record is created when a lockbox is opened, and the eKEY™ application on the smartphone immediately transmits that information to the Supra database so real estate agents can obtain real-time information about showings. Client questions can be answered quickly, and feedback from showing agents can be gathered while information is fresh in the showing agent's and client's minds. Just be sure to turn on your phone to update the app for the day before going out to view rural properties where you'll have no service.
