If you haven't logged in to HOUZZ.com, you're missing a whole lot of great design advice. Most of us either can't afford a professional interior decorator, or we worry that we'll make mistakes that cost us thousands. In addition, it seems like everyone considers him/herself an interior decorator so there are inherent risks to hiring one. So many people start out not having any idea how to put a room together, and believe that if they find a "professional," the room will come together like magic. Wrong! My closest friend is an incredibly talented designer, and after a 33 year friendship, we still don't agree on everything. The important thing for a good designer to accomplish is to identify the most important things to you, weed out the potential mistakes you appear to want to make, and present you with compromises --- something you'll love, but you might not have chosen.
