Carnival Cruise Lines has had their share of problems over the last month with 4 different ships suffering various degrees of equipment failure. Each became a memorable experience for the passengers, from the "I'm okay with the situation" to the "trying to sue for mega bucks" reactions.
Each ship is a floating city when filled with passengers and crew, whether the capacity is 1000 or 6000 individuals. The crew members, many unseen for the entire cruise by most passengers, number in the hundreds to thousands depending on the passenger capacity. These ships are floating hotels that overnight "magically" transport passengers from one destination to another.
I live in Tampa, we have a cruise ship terminal and are the current home port for the Carnival Legend, the latest ship to suffer a mechanical failure.
To hear some of the passengers "whine" (as reported in our local news), this was the cruise from hell and it was totally unacceptable that the last port-of-call was skipped to allow the ship to return to Tampa Bay by it's scheduled arrival time.
What, you would have preferred to have been stuck at sea for an extra week like the passengers on the Carnival Triumph: no power, no toilets, little food and no air conditioning?
Please note, Carnival owns at least 9 others cruise lines totaling over 100 ships, among them; Holland America, Princess Cruise Lines and another called Costa Cruises.
You remember that name don't you, they own the Costa Concordia........
Things could have been a lot worse, get over it and move on with your life.
Your ticket and reservations contained information and disclaimers that the ships Captain and Carnival Cruise Lines could alter the itinerary without notice.
They did, you're safe!
