Hi Donna,

The top photo is still used today to warn the ships of land. I bet it is very scenic to see the lights scanning over the waves. Pretty and serve a purpose too even though the big ships have sonar now.

Where is that lighthouse located, Kristen? It looks similar to one located along the Northern California coast in Mendicino County.

Hi Myrl,

Yes it is near Half Moon Bay at Point Montera which is now a hostel. We drove by and it was just so pretty. I read where it had been there since 1875.

Hi Kristin, I have always loved to see those Lighthouses along the coast lines. That's a very nice photo you have of this one in your area. Dating back to 1875 lets you know there some history to be learned there.

Lighthouses are one of my favorite things to watch while driving on the coast. I even saw many of them while I was going through the Panama Canal. They are not as pretty as ours but have some classic looks. I love the old B & W movies and they always had movies with fog, fog horns and lots of mystery.
