While enjoying a fantastic lazy sunday we were once again treated with a superb Arc-en-Ciel, a rainbow, over the Andelle Valley, where I live. So you will probably think "so what", but I live in the Andelle Valley, near Rouen in Normandie, France.
The Andelle Valley starts in the overflow of the Andelle river into the river Seine (the Seine-embrace we call it - if you look at the map, you will understand) and goes all the way up to Lyons-la-Forêt, the hunting village of King Richard the Lionheart (here's something to Google...).
Romilly sur Andelle, the village where I live is a larger market village and entrance village to the valley. I live in an old 350 years converted barn on an old Normandie-farm that we turned into a new-built plan but with respect to the old environment. So standing in our small street, the old entrance road throught the old farm, you will still have the idea that your are in the enclosed Farm.
The Andelle Valley is special because it is quite narrow and well locked up between to "Côtes" : The Côte des Deux Amants (the ridge, steep hill, of the two lovers - now here is a story for the next time) and the Côte Jacques ANQUETIL,
the famous cyclist before Epo...) (8 January 1934 – 18 November 1987) was a French road racing cyclist and the first cyclist to win the Tour de France five times).
Because it is locked between the steep ridges we often get lovely rainbows spanning from one end to another when the weather gods collide above our heads, hence calling the valley also : La Vallée de bonheur - The lucky valley, as in France the Arcs- en-ciel are considered to be bringers of luck.
Well, as happy imported frenchman, I will keep you posted about our luck here in France.
