About 150 real estate brokers, tourism industry leaders, bankers and business owners gathered in Brasilito, Guanacaste on Thursday to mark the start of construction of the $300 million Hyatt Hotel Resort project.A group of 75 people, about half of them brokers from both the United States and Canada, had been flown into the country to get a first hand look at the building site.Both the Ministers of Tourism and of Public Works and Transport, as well as the Mayor of Santa Cruz Municipality lent a hand with the symbolic planting of a Guanacaste tree as part of the ground-breaking ceremony.The Minister of Tourism, Carlos Ricardo Benavides, told the audience the government was willing to open its arms to projects such as the Hyatt, because of its style and the respect it has for the local community.
