I CPSC

That's right, I'm in love with acronym.  The CPSC is the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and they're a fantastic resource for anyone concerned about safety.

The CPSC website is a compendium of informative articles on safety issues.  Here are just a few... you can bookmark them for easy reference!

Despite the CPSC's efforts, a large number of hazardous products are still in use.  Some of the more notable recalls over the last few years include circuit breakers, drywall, and dishwashers.

If you're an information junkie like me, you can subscribe to the CPSC for recall updates.  What's really sad is how the same issues come up over and over again:  violations of lead paint standards in toys, violation of child pajama flammability standards, violation on fire hazards for outdoor accessories.

Easy access to cheap products is a modern reality.  Low prices usually trump high quality at the mass-market level.  As a consumer and as a concerned citizen, I feel it's important to stay informed on the types and number of hazardous products that are out there.  If you're  interested in safety issues, I strongly recommend subscribing to the CPSC.
