Union County NC Golf Course Communities—Homes for Sale
Are you dreaming of a home with a beautiful golf course view? Would you like to live in an area with lower property taxes and great schools while indulging your passion for golf? If so, you can find some great golf course communities in Union County NC, Charlotte’s southern neighbor. You’ll find information and a list of homes for sale for five of Union County’s golf course neighborhoods below.
A gated community, Longview is the most upscale of the five golf course neighborhoods. Longview is located in two villages on both sides of Tom Short Road in unincorporated Union County. This location is just a few miles from the Blakeney shopping area of South Charlotte and from interchanges with I-485.
The Club at Longview includes a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Club, a 10,000 square foot Activity Center with a Youth Lodge, two swimming pools and tennis courts. One of the villages at Longview has custom homes priced above $1,000,000. The other village has semi-custom homes priced above $750,000. New homes are still available in the community.
The 2012 median closed price for homes in the community was $879,746. The highest priced sale was $2,550,000. The median closed price was essentially the same as 2011.

A 400-acre golf course is the heart of Firethorne, a luxury country club community in Marvin NC. Like Longview, Firethorne is located adjacent to South Charlotte, lying just south of Ballantyne.
Firethorne Country Club includes a clubhouse with fine dining and a fitness center, four swimming pools, a water park and ten tennis courts. Firethorne’s homes are built on half acre to one acre lots. Construction in the neighborhood began in 1999 and is now complete.
The 2012 median closed price in Firethorne was $725,000 and the highest closed sale was $950,000. The 2012 median closed price was off 5.5% from 2011.

Olde Sycamore lies in both Mecklenburg and Union Counties. It’s located off Highway 218 in the northern part of Union County outside Mint Hill NC. An interchange with I-485 is just a few miles from the neighborhood.
Old Sycamore Golf Plantation is an 18-hole, Tom Jackson designed course. The course was built in 1997 and renovated in 2007. The clubhouse includes a restaurant.
The 2012 median closed price on Old Sycamore was $255,290. The highest priced sale was $353,000. The median closed price increase 0.7% over 2011.

Shannamara was developed around The Divide, a daily fee course. Shannamara is located in the Stevens Mill area of Stallings NC. Two interchanges with I-485 are within a few miles of the neighborhood.
Shannamara amenities include a clubhouse at The Divide, a recently expanded and remodeled clubhouse for the neighborhood, a swimming pool with water slide and a kiddie pool, a playground and tennis courts.
The 2012 median closed price in Shannamara was $310,000. The highest sale price was $505,000. The median closed price increased 1.6% over 2011.

Emerald Lake is the smallest of the five golf course communities. It is located off Lawyers Road in Stallings. A community shopping center and an interchange with I-485 are nearby.
Homes in Emerald Lake are custom or semi-custom built homes. They were built from the mid 1990s to the mid 2000s. The golf club is semi-private with a clubhouse and swimming pool.
The 2012 median closed price was $316,300. The highest sales price was $375,500.
