The Role of Karma in My Career by Jason Buck in Palos Verdes

By
Real Estate Agent with Re/Max Palos Verdes

I wanted to talk about some of the great experiences in my life.  I try to pay it forward as often as possible and have been very fortunate with my career and success. I have met some wonderful people and shared many beautiful moments. This video talks about some of these.

Music has been a huge part of my life. When I was in high school one of my favorite bands was Troy.  They broke up and the leader Tom or aka MOT www.motartstudios.com brought the band back to life with 4 high school kids and within a few months we were playing clubs in Hollywood, and taking the set break in the alley cause we were not allowed in the club.  lol.. All of these members are still playing music at a professional level today, and I think of MOT and the things he taught us often.
After college I was very close to moving to Australia and working on a dive boat. A family friend asked me to work with him in real estate over the summer and I was hooked.  I got my Realtor license in 1998 and shortly after, saved my family home from foreclosure and bought it.  I was 28.
I believe in networking and sharing information to help others.  It feels good, and the favor is often returned.  A good friend of mine James mentioned that he was starting a network group with his college roommate Eric, and that group became the Karma Foundation.  www.thekarmafoundation.com   "Every action we take generates a force of energy that returns to us in kind. When we consciously choose actions that bring happiness and success to others, the fruit of our karma is happiness and success."  This group adopted a "pay it forward" mindset and encourages its members to help others.  I joined the group and thought about their challenge.
I was approached two weeks later by some musicians that were interested in recording in my studio. http://www.theseapalacestudio.com/  One of the musicians was Kodi Lee who was a 9 year old savant who had several disabilities, however, he was incredibly talented.  http://kodileerocks.com/   Kodi would go to a movie theater not to watch the movie, but to listen, and he would go home and recite the entire musical score by memory - amazing!!!  Kodi had never played with a band, and I was hooked to join and be apart of this awesome movement.  We had a gig at Ability First in Long Beach and I was completely hooked by the energy and knew that I could help others, and share joy by playing music.
The band was called No Boundaries and we went to the NAMM show and met Gibson guitars. They were expanding into China and the timing was perfect. The Gibson Foundation gave us several guitars, I got my dream guitar, an ES 335, and they gave us a $10,000 donation that we used to fly 23 people to China. We were in China for 10 days and played a gig at Fudan University and got a special permit to play on the Great Wall. China was an incredible experience to tour the jade factory, the silk shops, and learn about this fascinating culture.
No Boundaries continued to play gigs and every year would go to Camp Oaks in Big Bear along with Easter Seals and perform for many children with disabilities - the highlight concert of the week.  We have shared the stage with Dave Beckham, Jay Leno, the Olson Twins, and many more.  More importantly was the alliance with Easter Seals, Best Buddies, and other groups to help spread the passion and talents of people with disabilities.  No Boundaries changed the name of the band to Kyndryd and continues to perform around Los Angeles - www.facebook.com/kyndrydband

It was soo ironic to have a man from China write to me about homes in Palos Verdes. I sent him listings and then a video of the home he liked, which he bought after watching my video 17 times.  I extended the physical inspection to a month so he would have time to come to LA to see the house before removing contingencies.  My client is very pleased and we have become good friends.
