Fresno's Historic Water Tower

By

The old Fresno Water Tower at the corner of Fresno and O Street is probably the city’s most famous icon. I read a comment on the internet by someone claiming it to be the second most popular subject for photographers in all of Central California, with Yosemite’s Halfdome holding the number one spot. In both pictures the sun is directly behind the Tower.

Randy that is a nice water tower.  Definitely different than the ones you usually see with the city name painted across.  I will be sure and look for it if I pass through Fresno.

Carolyn, I dont go downtown that often.  I have kind of shunned the downtown area.  I'm warming up to it more as I age.

Randy - thanks for sharing Fresno's icon. What a great angle for your second shot - so much more significant than the first.

Oh I miss Fresno, thanks for posting the picture.  In my later high school days (early 90's), we all spent a lot of time in the Tower District.  In the summers, they used to play movies on the wall near Butterfields.  Is it the Tower still experiencing a revitalization, or has the whole River Park area & Fig Garden Village become the popular social gathering sites?

Hi Cyndi,

The tower is a alive and well but you will find the majority of people at River Park.  I have a couple of blogs on the Tower District.  This link will take you to them.  I just looked at your picture - doesnt look like you've been out of high school very long ;)

Lots of dynamic range in that lens.  Hope you enjoy it.  Pictures look great.

Great photos, Lazarus. Potential buyers often want to click through to the real meat. There must be some consistency in labeling your home post
