Don't Let The Truth Monkeys Keep You From Seeing Reality

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Truth MonkeysHave you seen the truth monkeys? Well maybe the "untruth" monkeys, hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. Getting to the truth of a situation, THE REALITY, is often more difficult than it appears on the surface. To ourselves, OUR PERCEPTION is the reality, so what we want is CLEAR perception.

I often think in praying we should ask over and over again for ENLIGHTENMENT. To understand what is REALLY going on. I collect quotes and there is a good one that says if everyone is doing something doesn't make it right, and if ONLY you are doing something doesn't make it wrong. Truth some days can be in this HUGE minority in life. So,

Don't Let The Truth Monkeys Keep You From Seeing Reality.

Do not live in denial of what is going on. You know DENIAL? That river in Egypt. Denial happens like those monkeys' moves cause it is comfortable and convenient. Wake up to people and their actions. In business or personal situations do NOT sweep things under the rug and AVOID pain. Think nip it in the bud to not extend out pain.

Whether in business not wanting to tell a seller bad news that no one will buy his house without a new roof or a relationship that a behavior MUST BE STOPPED to move on, truth is truth and JUST DEAL WITH IT. Remember all those hands to put them down, and for yourself TO THINE OWN SELF "always" be true.

Well said!  I have told my kids some of this advice about doing the right thing, even if no one else is doing it.

Gary, Many times I see what I want to see. If something is negative I look for the good in it and it helps get me though.

I agree with Lori and have taken that path as it is much easier. People that can' t handle the truth are hard to deal with and live in an un real world.

I agree that sometimes the easiest thing to do is not the best in the long run.  Confrontation does not come easy to many people.  Procrastination however, does.

Hi Gary, great post and yes, denial is often the cause of a lot of miscommunication and discomfort in human relations.  It's so important to nip issues of disagreement in the bud.

Hi Gary-- It seems that the biggest challenge is figuring out what is THE TRUTH.  It seems that folks come to differing conclusions about what they deem to be REALITY or TRUTH.. and it makes things very difficult when we share the same world and different realities.

Great post as always Gary.  The truth is so important in life.  The problem is that so many people twist things and have nothing to compare "their" truth to.

Great post Gary. Telling the truth is not always easy, but it definely is the right thing to do. Once people know the truth, they can deal with the problem (s) the correct way.

What's that saying? Perception is reality? In the end, nothing beats the truth and nothing beats looking at things without those rose-colored glasses!

Thanks for all the wonderful comments that speak to the importance of 'truth', and I think we all here "get it" about trying to see the true picture of a situation or person, best we can, or always working toward that end. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and have enjoyed reading them.

The Gold Star Gary, that's what I can call you today! When people say "the truth hurts", it's all in the way you tell it. Using "I" instead of "You" creates a less aggressive way of explaining someone's truth to another person. We can only speak our own truth and hope that others honor it, but it is their choice as to whether they hear it, see it or speak it for themselves.

Gary if it were not for the necessary word count to post on AR, this would have summed up the entire post: "To thine self be true."
