Special offer

Congratulations on being so busy with current clients! Are you still prospecting??

Amanda and I have been very fortunate to be incredibly busy and productive to start the year.  She has been selling all of our listings and continues to list more.  I have been working with numerous buyers helping them find their new home.

We are both thankful for the business that we have.

Most days we roll out of bed, feed the dogs, make the coffee, and get to work.  By the time our work is done with our current clients, it is well into the evening, and we are both spent.  Done. WHOOPED.  Empty.

We do take breaks during the day for meals and once in a while we will get away and have a few drinks or see a movie.

I was talking to a friend of mine today and he brought up a good point.

No matter how busy you are, you still need to be prospecting for new leads to keep this momentum up for the entire year.

I cringed.

Not because I didn't want to prospect.  It was because I knew he was right and that I have been lacking in that department.

Most of our business comes from Facebook and social media, past client referrals, and folks finding us on ActiveRain.  If we are not consistent in those areas, we will probably lose momentum.

That ain't gonna happen!

I'll adjust a few things to make sure I have the proper time to play around and engage on Facebook and AR, and check in with past clients...  like I used to do when we weren't so busy!

Jared, I learned that lesson many years ago. Everything will dry up if we aren't shaking the bushes so to speak.

Jared,

This is the simple truth, isn't it? Now, define prospecting. I would suspect that most of us actively prospect without actually being aware of it, or deliberately calling it such.

Yes...I am busy also, but if I should stop prospecting, my sources will dry up. I will continue to prospect along with working with my current clients.

Hope that you are having a successful start to the Selling Season. March is the month that the most of our activity begins here.

It can be hard to do it, but prospecting all the time is a must - otherwise you will get into slow times of the year (beyond what is normal).

Congrats guys..but it is true. My husband and I seem to parallel your team only w/o the movies. We have a pack of dogs to go home to. We use ACT for Real Estate - it is a CRM software that if we set up our next "activitiy" for a prospect and make our daily calls/to do items, it really helps us stay on top. Having a good assistant to to weekly marketing even if part time helps to. Stay Busy but take the time to smell the roses (or dogs) too.

True story.  I have been so busy lately with buyers, I have allowed my "staying in touch" go by the wayside a bit. I generally try and stick to a routine with social media, email contact and mailings, but I have become a bit lax and honestly,it makes me feel stressed to be falling behind. I think the key is to get my daily schedule better defined and try and stick to it.

Part of my prospecting includes going out for an occasional lunch. It gets me away from the computer and phone and face-to-face with past clients who can then refer business my way. That is a fun way of prospecting.

I cringe to think of what happens after this wave of business sub sides. We all have to remember to keep up the prospecting even in times of plenty...

Jared:  Obviously you are lucky to have a very smart friend that will remind you of these important things.  They used to call it "divine intervention".  We all need someone reminding us once in a while ...

Congrats on the Feature!!

You are correct, and now that we are in season, we shouldn't let the moss grow under our backsides.  Prospecting is important in whatever manner we have come to work it, work it we must!  Good post!!

Yes, smart thinking. The cool thing about blogging is the posts are always there, and the work is cumulative (unlike FB) and my website/blog continues to be a feeder and generates leads every week.  Once you have a good set of posts, you don't need to post as often.  From there, I would focus on reconnecting w/ past customers (and that's where we are spending more time this year).

How right you are! I learned a while back that you have to stay in concentration in order to keep your momentum. Just because you are busy today does not mean you will be busy tomorrow. Part of our daily routine must be prospecting, no matter how much or how little time we give to that aspect of our business, it must be done on a consistent basis. Glad you're getting back to it!
