MAKING IT TO THIS VERY MOMENT

Are you a in the moment person? Do you have a heart of gratitude right here and now or are you always chasing down your happiness believing it is around the corner hidden in some tangible item or place. By now, you have lived enough to know this answer and what to do about it. It is simpler than you think too

ONE DAY AT A TIME

If you take stock of your self right now, I'd say you are doing well. You have lived through things that you thought you would never get through. Remember? When the challenges come, our worst fears presented themselves. Well now they are either history or under control. If you are reading this post, well you made it this far.

SO FAR...SO GOOD

Even today it appears like the end of the world to some who are facing the unknowns. Not so. It is just a calling to have to start over or think and proceed another way. You did it before, you will doing again. Liking what is happening is not the issue. Getting through it is. Same thing when you lose your job or income.

CHANGE COMES IN MANY WAYS

We were not put here to be defeated. Think about this. It makes no sense for things to enter into our lives and then thwart us. Quite the contrary, you are to become stronger from it if you handle it right. When I counseled people in jail or visited with them in hospitals, I knew they didn't belong there. I also knew they had to get out and get on with life. They did.

THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT..

It is not important to think about your worries, future or let you mind present false or imaginary scenarios. No! Be content that you managed to reach this point, appreciate it, and then look forward to whatever comes your way so that you can practice those skills and talents within you when they do.

The answer is...NOW

How far we have come or how far we have to go is not the question.  Just being here right now with life... with all of our potentials is the correct way to start the day....one moment at a time.

Richie, I think the biggest thing to be IN THE MOMENT about is with when you are with other people, and keep trying to not let yourself be distracted.

Gary...yes to your comment and let me submit another point of view for your consideration...It is that very arena you describe in your comment that allows us to perfect staying in the moment...Distraction can be used like a stone that sharpens iron.....thank you Gary

Very thoughtful post Richie.  It is not always easy to be in the moment when a lot is happening around you and with you, but this moment is all we really have because we do not know what the next moment will bring. I have learned a lot along the way by being in the moment and also by not being in the moment.  It seems when I am not and letting distraction take hold that is when some of my biggest lessons or epiphanies have occurred.  Life is an occasion, is it not? So perhaps we should rise to it.

Richie, I definitely do my best to be in the moment. It's something I learned to focus on in college in theatre, which is what I majored in. In improvisation for example, if you are not truly LISTENING, you miss the whole point of the exercise! You can't be moments ahead, because the scene won't make sense.

Kinda like life sometimes, huh?

Richie, I like this blog about being in the moment.  You are so right; but, I need to teach myself to be in the moment and stay in the moment.  My partner (& husband) tells me that all the time, because I am a multi-tasker....

Pat & Steve...going moment to moment is okay as long as you stay in the fullness of the NOW when multi-tasking...When you are out of the pull of the mind, emotions and five sense, you are in the moment...centered and observing it all...Think: watching a parade vs being in one

LADIES and  GENTLEMAN

That all so popular "carrot" that the world uses to tempt us out of the moment beckoning us to chase it simply fails in the moment if you don't respond. You stay and the carrot goes to it's next beguiling assignment. The moment is sanctuary if you choose to believe it

stay here and enjoy...

Richie it took me a while, but I finally got it through my thick skull to not worry about things that I do not have any control over, and to enjoy what I have today, and what I have tomorrow, tomorrow. There is nothing wrong with wanting more, but striving for the more without enjoying what you already have is a receipt for a very unhappy life.

George...I like your comment and again it causes me to bring up the illusive carrot of MORE and TOMORROW...One should proceed with caution
