Have you heard the buzz around Newberry, Florida.

The City of Newberry, Easton Sports Development Foundation (ESDF) and National Alliance for the Development of Archery (NADA) are currently working on plans to build a Regional Archery / Recreation Training facility at the Newberry Sports Complex. The facility would house administrative space for each of the three organizations, have an indoor range, multipurpose gymnasium, outdoor 90 meter range and 3D range. This facility would complement the existing facility of four baseball / softball fields, three soccer fields, football field and concessions area.

The Archery Facility will service local programs, as well as, act as a training facility for future Olympic hopefuls and train Olympic coaches and archers from Pan American Countries, South America and Europe. The facility would also host local, regional, national and international competitions.

As funding dries up for recreation, we feel that it is important that organizations such as the City of Newberry, ESDF and NADA team up with their individual assets to continue providing quality programs and to be able to generate a positive economic impact for our community.

The City of Newberry would like to invite you to attend two workshops on the Archery / Recreation Facility. The first workshop will be Monday, February 4th, 5:30 PM at Newberry City Hall. This workshop will consist of ESDF, NADA and the City of Newberry presenting plans and financial responsibilities to construct the facility. The second workshop will be, Monday, February 11th, 5:30 PM at Newberry City Hall. The City of Newberry will bring Mr. Lou Persutti, the founder of Cooperstown Dreams Park, to do a presentation on Sports Tourism and the Economic Impact it has on your community.

The Gainesville Sports Commission and the Best Western Gateway Grand will host a reception for Lou Persutti on Sunday, February 10th, 3:00 PM at the Best Western Gateway Grand. The Gainesville Sports Commission Executive Director Jack Hughes and Lou Persutti will address Sports Tourism and Economic Impact.

The City of Newberry hopes that you will consider attending one or all of the activities concerning the Archery / Recreation Facility! For more information you can contact Richard Blalock, Newberry Parks & Recreation Director at 258-9381 or Keith Ashby Newberry City Manager at 472-0055.
