The Power of Bonus Points

By

It's been one of those weeks.  You know, those weeks we wish would just end, already.  Those weeks, where you wait for the weekend starting lunchtime on Tuesday.  Those weeks that the good things that happen are interfering with the bad things you can't help focus on.

And every single day in this week, I must produce a blog post because I said I would and I'll get a bunch of bonus points.

Now, can someone please tell me why bonus points with no direct impact on life work so well?

What high impact activities could I have done today?  Prospect and Diet!

I have a list of excuses why neither of those could have happened today, yet I am still capable of putting together this post, for bonus points.  Are Active Rain points taking the place of my health and income?

No, because even with this quick and dirty post about nothing, I am learning something much bigger.

Today I really learned the power of forcing myself into a daily habit.  The "no matter what" attitude I never adopted.

Most of what I did today was a mess, unproductive and not enjoyable.  But with my eyes half shut I can go to sleep feeling good that at least I kept my word, no matter what.

Please excuse the lack of visual stimulation.

Ha! I'd say it was a bad day with an acknowledgement that good things come out of bad days.

Ruth,    Hope you sleep well tonight!   You go girl...get those bonus points.      I try to comment on at least 3 blogs a day, that was what I decided I would do each day....no matter what!

I don't focus on the points very much. I get so much pleasure out of blogging, that I would do it, even if there weren't any point. I share and so many share with me. I feel like I would be letting my AR family down, if I didn't blog.

I know...these bonus pts are addictive.  Anyway, the blogging habit is really key, and does generate leads (I get a lot each week).  So, in the end it's worth it and part of lead generating, even if it feels like bribery to get you started.

Kim - great strategy to comment on 3 a day no matter what.  It's how we dig and find interesting posts.

Joe - if I didn't enjoy it, I guess I wouldn't keep up points or no points.  (I just answered the question why I don't adopt the " no matter what" attitude to dieting :-)

Debbie - Bribery.  that's the word.  But it works!  I am banking on the habit building up my online presence and beefing up my lead generation.  I love hearing it works for others.
