As I watch the Super Tuesday results coming in tonight it makes me ponder...and muse....

With so much focus these days on Energy Efficiency, Global Warming and Renewable Policies...

jets

What are candidates doing to reduce their carbon footprint today?

An ABC article by Clayton Sandell reports that according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change air travel accounts for about 3.5% of the human contribution to global warming.

I understand the importance of candidates getting in front of the public....

but I also understand what is involved in politicians traveling, they are not riding on a scheduled flight but arrange private air...and secret service...and a tremendous drain on local public service employees ... police, fire, etc.

The candidates today are flying from state to state and I don't think they are carpooling!Carpool

I know at times the candidates are like naughty children who can't get along...yet humor me!!!

cfl ideaWhat do you think of the idea....

Of Dems "plane-pooling" with other dems

and Repubs "plane-pooling" with other repubs????

How many voters do candidates actually pick up with these last minute wasteful trips?

OR....skip the plane altogether and broadcast from a virtual network ...

I know. That personal handshake does so much to turn around a voter. (tongue in cheek)

It is interesting to think about it, yea?

I think that they should hold the debates on the plane as they fly together from state to state--kill two birds with one stone!

Funny Debe! What a great idea! And maybe have a real cat fight! Wouldn't that solve some issues?! Thanks for your comment!

Hey Mary,  I doubt seriously that they have even considered all of that.  :)  Good idea though!

LOL Stephanie! I was just shaking my head when I was listening to all the states they have traveled yet again today! I seriously doubt these last minute trips have really changed much of the voters minds. The waste in our political process just kills me!

Mary,

Up to now I don't see any of them paying particular attention to the green agenda, although they should, so the focus on their campaigns is going to be on other issues. Unfortunately. The green lobby isn't strong enough yet.

Hi Esko - Interesting. Our Gov, "Jenny", talked about renewables quite a lot in her State of the State address, from what I have been told. Unfortunately, I had other engagements and didn't watch it! I sure hope she puts my money where her mouth is! UNISolar has two plants in Michigan, we have wind farms and other companies pursuing the renewable business. It would behoove the state of Michigan to develop some policy. Thanks for the comment, I am in agreement with you! Let's get that Green Lobby beefed up!

I just think the politicians are trying to reach a niche market.  However, people can see that they truly don't believe in their cause because if they did they would actually do something about it.  Maybe they should take lessons from Arnold in CA???
