Do you know when to stop?

Do you know when to stop? Ok then, just slow down a little. I was told “we’re only open half a day tomorrow” when scheduling a closing for early next week yesterday.

Today was a busy day for me with around 200 miles put on the car. Showings in five different cities, a final walk through, and writing an offer.

This holiday weekend is really putting a dent in my schedule. I’ve been told “it’s a holiday weekend, we’re only open half a day and I’ll get back to you on Monday” one too many times the past couple days.

Personally I don’t want my buyer to lose a home or get in a multi offer situation because another offer came in on a “holiday weekend”. As I sit here venting, I thought maybe it’s just me. Maybe I should slow down…….nope

Christine, I cannot even remember the number of times I ended up working on a holiday for a client. Do what you can.... let the rest go.

Sometimes we are forced to slow down. Our office was closed today. I was working with a buyer and builder and the traffic around Dallas was like rush hour, by 1:30. At that point, I realized that many had taken the day off and were headed out of town. Many showings have been declined due to the holiday as well.

In the south, things come to a screeching fault on the weekends. For instance, big retailers like Target and Costco are both closed on Easter. So it's no surprise that real estate offices are closed.

When I am working like crazy, it's refreshing when everything and everybody shuts down for a Holiday - be it Easter, Thanksgiving, whatever. It gives me time to stop and rest - and I can blame it on the Holiday!

That is true Fred. I do look forward to that excuse too.

Tammie - Yes, the offices were open a half day on Friday for the most part. Some were open on Saturday.

Sharon - Your blog post has got me rethinking the way I do things, thank you

Kathy - It could be worse, I did work retail for a short time years ago. Those were some crazy holiday hours with midnight specials and coming back to work the early bird specials that were always a hour earlier every year.
