It seems you never know what you'll find when you look through historical records at the State archives these days

On Wednesday, Gregory Jarrell, an archivist, found what was indeed an important and forgotten piece of Georgia's history.  Apparently, Mr. Jarrell was looking at some microfilm when he saw the date March second, 1977.  Archivists believe that the bound volume in which the original document was found was in fact Georgia's only written recording of the Declaration of Independence 

State Archives Director David Carmicheal says "the handwritten document probably was recorded by a scribe or clerk after Congress dispatched a copy of the original document from Philadelphia to the nation's 13 original states."

How cool.  I live near Milledgeville that was a previous capitol of Georgia.  My husand is a graduate of Georgia Military College which is housed in the old capitol buildings.  That's a great document Laurie.
