You Make the Call

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

RefsIn many areas of Real Estate and life we are asked to make the call. They used to have the ads on the football games with a situation that was put before you to "make the call" and see if you got it right.

The making the call was the fun part but the "getting it right" was the important part.

In selecting a house for purchase finding the right mix of location, condition, floor plan, amenities, taxes, and neighborhood all will have long term consequences on how happy you will be with your decision. A trained professional such as a Realtor can assist a client in guiding them through all this information and making a well-informed decision based on what's most important to them. For example a long commute to work may not be a bad thing if evenings and weekends you relax by your rural setting home that is located near a peaceful stream in a wooded neighborhood. For others they may dread that back and forth commute each day.

Don't make hasty decisions, because you will have to live with them. Buying that newest laptop with the noisy fan may not seem so smart after months of using it. That unreliable car that was a steal as far as price is eating up you weekends and money in the repair shop. And as far as getting into relationships - people can be the most unpredictable in their outcomes and impact on your life. We don't all make the right call there. If you are blessed with a winner in that department count your lucky stars as around half of long term relationships don't work out. It must be our uncommitted society with too many having a disposable attitude not only to material things but also others.

Growth Chart

Life is all about growth. I like to think we all get better day by day, year by year. But it is probably more a zig zag pattern with setbacks and moving forward again.

You make the call. Do your best to make the right ones. Use professionals and weigh advice from others on what they think.

It's a BIG WORLD out there.

Just do your BEST. That's all the world needs from you.

Gary, I consider this one of the most important aspects of my job-pointing out the pros AND Cons of a home.  I've had clients so enamored with one feature of a home,  they were completely willing to forget another which was on their "absolutely do NOT want" list. Once pointed out, they are so grateful for being stopped from making a decision based on emotion, which they would ultimately not have been happy with.

Gary, you're so right about the growth process, I couldn't have said it better myself. We make decisions with the best info we have at the time and hopefully learn and get better at "making the call" as we move forward, in real estate and in life! As Colleen noted, I've also pointed out consequences/pros and cons to buyers and sellers when they were looking short-term, objectivity is hard when you're emotionally involved!

Colleen: Giving the pros and cons is where we shine with our expertise I agree. Stops those bad emotionally based decisions.

Diane: Looking long term is tough to do sometimes.
