Almost Wordless Wednesday; Ceramic & Paper Mache Artist on Venice Beach, CA
I've been in Venice Beach, CA since Saturday visiting my son and supporting some of the local beach vendors. The business card for www.loscalavera.com says: " Watch out for Fake Imitations; Say No To Piracy". I did watch out for "Fake Imitations" and bought two authentic Calavera skulls.
Good for you browsing the local artist scene and buying authentic. I'm with Sharon - kind of cool, kind of creepy. :) Enjoy the rest of your visit Lloyd.

Fernando, Sharon, Debb, Dick, Roger, thank you for coming by and commenting. My wife has an assortment of handmade and painted Catrinas. These Calaveras will feel right at home with them.
Lloyd, Those are so bright and colorful. It would definitely make a great conversation piece! It's nice that you got away and spent time visiting your son. Will we see you at the Meet-Up in San Leandro on the 13th of April? I hope so!
Sheila and Larry, Venice beach is in Los Angeles, near Santa Monica and about 350 miles south. I have a feeling you know CA as well as I know LI.
Kathleen, my son lived in the Marina in SF from 1996 until two years ago when he moved to So CA for the sunshine. Kids! Thank you, but I will not be able to join you in San Leandro.

Silvia, ahhhh Florida? Never been there. There's a Venice in Italy and a Venice in Los Angeles (that's where my son lives) and I guess one in Florida, too?

Maureen, we don't see our son as often as we used to since he moved from San Francisco's Marina district to Venice Beach for the sunshine. kids! He knew about SF weather when he moved up there in 1996 because his grandparents, my inlaws, lived in Cow Hollow SF (very near the bay) since the late 1960s.
Kim and Kristine, haven't been to the Barnyard, but we had a great lunch at Gjelina's. Thank you for the recommendation. They were already booked full for weekend dinners. The Calaveras are shown in the foreground along with a couple of Katrinas in my artist wife's collection. Note the sexy leg revealed on the Katrina. Pretty hot. We stayed at Venice Suites, it's a few short blocks from our son's Dogtown condo where we parked. We've stayed there twice and like the beach front location great for people watching and walking. Thanks again for the Gjelina recommendation, the food was excellent.

Glad you loved Gjelina's! Thanks for sharing your Calaveras. The sexy leg Katrina reminds me of Angelina Jolie's infamous sexy leg pose at some big awards ceremony, can't remember which one! Venice Suites, huh? Right in the middle of all the crazy Venice Beach action. Brave souls you and your wife are. Glad you had fun :) It's been super windy the past few days, good thing you missed it!

Kim, I do know the infamous picture you're referring to. Angelina Jolie will look like the Katrina in about 100 years.
Hi Sharon, he was seeing a young lady that I like a lot. In fact, I told her I'd like her to be my daughter-in-law. (I warned my son before I told her that.) But he was in the process of breaking up with her when we saw him. I think I'm giving up. He wants his independence more than he wants a girlfriend or a family. He's not prepared to make any sacrifices for a girlfriend. I don't think grandchildren are going to happen. Not happy about it, but it's his life and I want him to be happy.
I should have had 7 children so all the pressure wasn't on him. I want him to be happy.
