Kentlands Historic Building - Flour Mill

320 Firehouse Lane, Kentlands, Gaithersburg, MD

This one story colonial revival style building was built around 1920.  The original use as for a flour mill.  The property currently serves as the local office of Duany Plater-Syberk & Company, architects and urban planners. The Gaithersburg City Council approved a historic designation for the property in December.

The location is next to the Gaithersburg Arts Barn and across the street from the old Kentlands Firehouse.

Kentlands is a neo-traditional community in Gaithersburg, Maryland, in the suburbs of Washington, DC.  Kentlands is one of the preferred areas for families that are relocated to the DC Metro Area.

What a neat building ....I love when they are able to re-purpose older buildings rather than tear them down!!!

Wow! Other than the windows, the building certainly doesn't look its age! Very interesting. I would love to see the inside!

Roy, it is great to see that some areas are keeping older building and renovating them instead of tearing them down.  In Ronceverte they have been renovating older buildings and they look terrific.

Hi Roy, I love this historic treasures no matter where they are. We are so rich in this country with history and thankfully these wonderful buildings can be re-purposed and kept alive for many more generations.

Hi Roy.  Is it built on a slab or does it have a basement?  Thanks.

I must agree with some of the others.  Never would have guessed that this was a flour mill.  Has it been re-purposed to a private residence?
