Historic Kentlands Carriage House

321 Kent Square Road, Kentlands, Gaithersburg, Maryland

Walks through your home neighborhood are more interesting when you take a few photographs and learn more about the community. The one story Colonial Revival style Carriage House was constructed around 1920.  It is located next to the Gaithersburg Arts Barn which was built around 1900.

The Carriage House, at 321 Kent Square Road, is currently owned by the Kentlands Citizens Assembly.  The property received a historic designation from the City of Gaithersburg in December, 2012.

Photowalking is good for physical and mental health.  I usually photograph flowers but also look for interesting buildings.  Take advantage of the nice spring weather and walk through your home community.

Roy, It is amazing how when we go for walks with a camera in hand that we notice more.  Your photos are always so crisp, I feel like I am standing in person infront of this beautiful Kentlands carriage house.  Thanks for sharing.

Roy,

Your photo walking idea is an ecellent one and I need to do more of exactly that. Where we live there are no old building where we can walk to as Old Katy is several miles away.

Yes, Ellie, we do tend to notice more when we are looking for photo opportunities.

Historic buildings can be very interesting.  However, Bob, if there are no historic buildings, look for interesting stories to tell.

Roy, That is a real perk of living in an historic community. All the houses in my neighborhood are newer and  I can't say that there is very much interesting about them. Maybe I need to drive to another area. Now that is an idea.

Roy: I wonder what stories the Historic Kentlands Carriage House would have to tell if it could say!

The Kentlands community is not quite 25 years old. The historic properties were part of the estate before development of the community.  Yes, Anita, the buildings could tell some stories if they could talk.

I heard on the news walking is just as good as walking, with running you just see the results faster! Cheers!

Roy thank you once again fo r sharing some history and very nice photos. I was discussing carriage homes with a home seller just Monday in our area, if 1 in a 100 were restored we are lucky, many are converted to garages and have lost their wonder.

We have a beautiful sunny day in Kentlands.  Perfect weather for a walk through the community.  The Kentlands Happy Hour is this evening.

When your friends are being relocated the the Washington, DC area, please suggest the Kentlands area of Gaithersburg as a community they should consider.

It is sometimes a good practice to visit old blogs and reblogs. We might even find some good ideas for current posts.
