There is a battle for your eyes! Your eyes say a great deal about you, they are the windows to your soul.
I grew up around the Native American culture in Arizona. Primarily the Navajo and Apache. Respect for elders and authority was often practiced by limiting eye contact. A young person in this culture was raised to keep direct eye contact to a very minimum as it came to authority figures.
Once you had built a trust relationship that eye contact would increase. I remember feeling very special once I had crossed that barrier in the relationship. It was a joy to be allowed to look into my friend’s eyes.
For the most part you may not give much thought to eye contact or what you allow into the window of your soul. We should because it has a profound affect on our lives both conscience and sub-conscience. Here are some tips for Eye contact:
1. Do not lie, your eyes give it away.
2. Take the time to gain the trust of those you serve, they should see their best interest in your eyes.
3. Keep your focus on the person who is speaking to you.
4. Avoid double takes.
5. Do not follow a person with your eyes for reasons of lust.
6. See the environment you are walking into before you engage.
7. Give respect by allowing permission for direct eye contact.
8. Do not stare.
