Unless you have been stranded on a desert island with Tom Hanks's character in Cast Away or lost on another planet,you will know that Social Media is kinda like a lyric to one of LL Cool J's song "It is something like a Phenomenon. (Please don't ask me to sing that song). Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in which they create, share, and exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks. Social Media consumes a good portion of not only our day but it has sort of become part of our life.
Why should I utilize Social Media in my Business Plan? Social Media ROI (Return on Investment)? Done many searches on this topic and have yet to find data to show how much % will you yield on your investment in Social Media Marketing. However during my research many companies have stated that using Social Media,they were able to increase consumer engagement,collect competitive intelligence,generate sales,strengthen brand,monitor business and acquire contacts.
Can't afford not to have a Social Media strategy. Hire a Social Media Consultant if you can. Before you hire a Social Media Consultant,you need to figure out what you want to accomplish with Social Media. Do you want to generate sales? Increase brand awareness? Establish thought leadership for your CEO or company? Connect with donors? And when you contact with a Social Media Consultant or agency,they should be asking you questions as well to see if they would be a good fit or know what you are trying to accomplish with your Social Media Marketing. If someone tries to push you into using their services,RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN. But if you can't hire a Social Media Consultant try not to exceed no more than 15 mintues a day on Social Media sites engaging and sharing content with people. There is a Google Android app called Currents. You can use this app to post current news in Business,Sports,Health and other topics to your Social Media pages.
But as long as you are consistent in providing valuable content to your followers,sooner or later,your efforts will start to pay off.
