Sunday's Photo...The View of my Childhood...

By
Real Estate Agent with Aubrey and Associates Realty

My childhood home is long gone.  It has been a strip mall for several years now.  The other day Darcy and I went to take some photos in Woods Cross.  This photo is taken from where my front door would have been.  It is now the middle of a parking lot.

Looking almost straight East from where my front door used to be.

The Bus Stop Sign is a new addition and some of the trees are taller, but other than that it is pretty much the view that I grew up with.  This is why I still love the mountains!

Hi Tony and Darcy,

I love the view of the mountains so it must have been spectacular to see that every day. I grew up in Riverside which is about 25 miles from where I live now so when I drive to Riverside (weekly) I feel like I am home. I can imagine how you felt when you stood there.

Hi Tony & Darcy, the mountains view reminds me of  the hotel I stayed in during my first oversea vacation in Indonesia.

There is a certain sadness felt when you visit childhood places, and find them so changed.  My childhood home still stands, but the current owner has made significant changes, that make it difficult to recognize.  The neighborhood, which once had a bustling street with stores, shops, and markets, was leveled in the 1960s, and multi-unit housing put in.  It's like visiting a alien planet when I'm there.

Tony,

This one tugs at my heart. The view is beautiful and I'm sure nobody can take away your memories. I can understand why you are drawn to the mountains. I grew up in Chicago by Lake Michigan and even though there were no mountains, I still felt drawn to mountains. At least you had them... they are a part of you. You've climbed high, over hills and valleys, you've seen many beautiful sunsets and there's still a lot to see, things to do and you help others find their place in the sun with a front door view they can be proud of.

You and Darcy are very special people. Your passion for the land is always evident. You stay true to your values and beliefs and that's one of the many reasons why I admire and respect you.

Endre, Thank you!

Kristin, It was a decision that factored heavily in our decision to relocate a couple of months ago.

Kwee, Did they have snow?

Rob, It was a lot of fun to grow up there.

Myrl, The changes happen, it is difficult to see at times.  That is what makes memories all the more precious!

Roy, Thank you!

Patricia, Thank you!  We really do appreciate your comments!  The admiration and respect is mutual!
