I went skiing over this past weekend and once again was reminded about the beauty of the world we live in.  While riding up the sky lift on a very overcast day, the clouds suddenly parted and the sun came shining through.  It had rained the night before and all of the trees were covered with ice.  With the sun now shining from behind them.... all of the branches started glimmering... like jewels.  It was absolutely beautiful.  These pictures don't do it justice.... but I tried.

For those that don't get to enjoy a nice quite ride to the top of a snow covered mountain.....

Martin, they are beautiful photos.  Unfortunately, since I'm up at 5 in the morning because I have to go shovel out my car which is stuck in my driveway since yesterday, I can't truly appreciate them right now.  Maybe you could post them again in July.

Martin:  The pictures are great and I am very familiar with snow glistened trees.  They are a beautiful sight.  I live near a lake and around 2 in the afternoon, the sun hits the lake just so that it looks like thousands of diamonds dancing on the water.  Sometimes, I'm just mesmerized.  The trees that you saw are like that.  (Also, I discovered that a comment you made went into my spam blocker folder so I almost missed it).  I only discovered today that my spam blocker is blocking all sorts of things that it should not block.  Trying to get it worked out.

Winter in New England can be depressing but then I see a picture like this and I'm reminded how lucky we are to see this kind of beauty though the cold muddiness of winter once in a while.

We have some of the same effect here. But i'm not one for heights. 6ft 3 is high enough for me.

Martin, thanks for the pics! Those ice-jeweled trees make it worth it to brave any cold - :-)

One of the very best reasons for skiing is getting above the clouds! We tend to get valley cloud here in the winter. Even the drive up out of the valley to the resort can take us into the much needed sunshine.

Great that you had a terrific time!

Martin- great pictures. The ice on the trees gives them that beautiful glitter and I like looking at that, but don't like going out in it. Usually when you see that, that means there is ice everywhere and isn't so beautifl!
