What great thing would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?

Robert H. Schuller

When did you discover that you couldn’t do anything you put your mind to? Did someone tell you so?

I remember when my teacher told her teaching assistant in Elementary School (right in front of me) that I was too stupid for math. I asked to many questions.

I will remember that moment for the rest of my life and how defeated it made me feel. Up until that point I enjoyed math but it took years for me to find that joy again…

GOOD AFTERNOON PAUL!  How awful - folks like that shouldn't be in teacher roles.  For me, I discovered a long time ago that failing is OK - as long as you pick yourself back up and keep trying.  That said, I tend to try a bunch of things even if I am not good at it.  Except for going on tall roller coaster rides!

I now feel the same way Gabs! I tell my grandson to reach for the stars and I will never discourage or belittle him. We are only limited by what we think we can do! As for tall roller coaster rides, I will stand with you and watch others enjoy =]

If I knew I could not fail, nothing I could attempt would be great.

Paul,

My High School teachers said I wasn't college material. So I started working, got married and had two kids. Then it hit me, I want to go to college so I signed up at the University of Kansas and finished, off to the College of Lake County in IL and received 3 Associate Degrees, then National Louis University and completed my Bachelors Degree in 13 months, University of Dallas, MBA, Southeaster Paralegal and then Real Estate.

Your post is so pertinent and powerful!

Dale, How often do we not try great things because we don't want to fail? You're right that not just one thing would be special but then, everything would be special...

Patricia, I guess that shows that both of us are good listeners and we both care about other people's opinions. Problem is; we should have have followed our passion earlier. I'm proud of you!

Lou, I did beat the odds and I am always calculating something. I felt so strongly about supporting my kids education; both of my kids have their Masters Degrees. My son's is in Math; my daughter Biology...
