Networking has always been a vital part of my business and after eight years, I would like to think that I have mastered this skill.
I recently attended a networking event focused on real estate industry professionals. There were close to 300 people in attendance! Yes, the real estate market is good in Atlanta right now.
In my opinion, these events are a great way to build establish new relationships and develop new business opportunities.
Like any good networker, the day after the event I followed up with each individual I spoke to that evening. Depending on their business and suitability with my business I either sent an email, hand-written notes, or phone calls for those that I wanted to meet with the following week.
Several of these contacts have already turned into new business for me and for them. That is what I call a successful event.
So, when you take the time to network, do you take the time to follow up? Networking is a business activity, not a social hour.
