I  had the pleasure of training Isabelle Guay many years ago. She has built up one of the most successful home staging businesses in the Vancouver/Lower Mainland area.

They put their skills at work to give you the best experience possible while creating a haven in which you can live, work and play.

PROJECT CHALLENGE: Empty nesters wanted a new look just for them!

Due to an unforeseen oven fire, these young empty nesters decided to take advantage of their situation and renovate the entire main floor of their Kitsilano home. With their kids off to college they wanted to rejuvenate their tired space into a room that they could once again love. One of the challenges that Flow Home Staging and Design faced was the configuration and furniture layout in the living room. The sofas were angled on short walls and lacked functionality when they were entertaining. With a lot of dark and dated furniture and the outdated paint on the walls the room in turn felt dark and drab.

PROJECT SOLUTION:

The first step (and requirement for the owners) in designing this space was taking down the partition wall to the kitchen. In doing so meant Flow had to relocate the television. They started from there by building out the fireplace and setting back the television so it would be flush as well as creating some much needed open storage. This allowed them to use the fireplace as their main focal point and arrange their furniture accordingly. Purchasing a brand new cream leather sectional, painting the walls a soft, warm grey and installing new pot lights really brightened up the space. They then added some pop colours of midnight blue and yellow to create interest and warmth.

PROJECT CHALLENGE:

The challenge in the dining room was having a table that was much smaller than the space could hold as well as having 2 extra furniture pieces which made a fairly large dining room look crowded and cluttered. The obstacle was to create more storage so they could minimize all the different furniture pieces as well as enabling them to have a more sophisticated dining space.

PROJECT SOLUTION:

Flow was able to achieve more storage by creating a built-in buffet niche that housed a small wine fridge and some extra doors and drawers as well as a few open glass shelves for decorative glass display. They added some wallpaper behind the open shelves to create some sophistication and to balance the beautiful original artwork across from it. Glittering from the ceiling hang 5 bocce ball pendants that add a hint of sparkle in this updated, modern elegant dining room.
