I wanted to announce to those who live near Alvin Texas that Alvin has scheduled another National Prescription Drug Take Back Day!
What exactly does this mean? It means you don't have to trash the drugs you are no longer taking. You just take them to one of the locations mentioned below and they will take care of the rest.
Some people don't realize that you SHOULD NEVER FLUSH UNUSED DRUGS DOWN THE TOILET. In some cities the waste water treatment plant recycles the water into drinking water. You should know that this water has been treated to the inth degree and is drinkable. So you can see why you should not dump unused drugs down the toilet.
In other cities treated water (which is drinkable) is routed to the ocean. Water laden with drugs can affect the marine life there.
Below is the email I received from my friends at the City of Alvin. If you are considering buying a re-sale home or a new construction home in Alvin; give me a call I will be more than happy to assist you. There is almost nothing about Alvin that I don't know.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has scheduled another
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day!!
As a collaborative effort, the Bay Area Council on Drugs and Alcohol (BACODA) and the DEA will provide Brazoria County this terrific opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted, unused and expired medications.
All prescription & non-prescription drugs are accepted in a drive through collection process and disposed of properly.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. In addition, Americans are now advised that their usual methods for disposing of unused medicines—flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash—both pose potential safety and health hazards. You can help prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding your home of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted medications.
TIPS:
· All items can be left in the original packaging.
· You do not have to empty bottles into a zip lock. You may leave the items as you found them and bring them for disposal.
· All “over the counter” medicines/drugs are accepted. For example: cough syrup, anti-acids, aspirin, cough drops, eye drops. Anything you can purchase without a prescription is accepted.
· All prescription medicines/drugs are accepted. For example: Vicadin, Lipitor, Nexium, Plavix, Seroquel, Advair Diskus.
· Needles will be accepted and disposed.
· The RX does not have to be in your name. We do not check the label or ask how the RX drugs came into your possession.
