ActiveRain- You’re Not Just Blogging to the Members!

OK......without thinking …..when you wrote your first few posts here...  who did you think questionmight be reading them?  Were you directing them towards anyone in particular?

I attended an ActiveRain MeetUp today in Broward County hosted by Eileen Burns and this subject came up.

“I’m not marketing to other Realtors but aren’t they the only ones who will read my posts?”

“Aren’t members the only ones who will see my blog?

                                                                      Au Contraire

Just ask some of the seasoned and newly seasoned Realtor/bloggers here who’ve  received referrals from other Realtors here at ActiveRain.

Or ask the bloggers here who’ve closed deals with someone who found them via their ActiveRain blog.

Or ask the bloggers here (myself being one of them) who owe their Google presence to ActiveRain and what we’ve learned here about SEO and Blogging.

Yes, we’re here, reading your blog and offering our support through our comments but we’re not the only ones!

Go ahead and write that blog... write about Real Estate, your community, what’s going on in your life, market reports..... you’re not just blogging to ActiveRain members!

(in the interest of full disclosure...... if you’re not an ActiveRain Rainmaker, then you will indeed be blogging to just us ActiveRain Members!)

Hi Kathy, I'm always amazed at the phone calls I get that I can clearly trace back to some blog post I wrote. Then there are the many people who contact me because "they found me on the Internet!" I know they really mean ActiveRain!

Julissa- glad to hear from a satisfied aR Member.

Debbie- and you can’t discount building a network here.

Bobbie- we’ve got to work on that.

Roy- We all love it here but bottom line is are our phones ringing?

Margaret- indeed!  Andit’s so important to write something that will keep people interested.

Kristin-when you first start it’s hard to grasp the concept of what you want your blog to do.

Will- I totally agree.  When I’ve spoken to Realtors in my area they want to know the benefit of writing to other Realtors.  They don’t get it.

Al & Peggy-I think we’ve all asked ourselves why we’re here when we first began blogging.

Scott- for sure.  It’s being seen even if we don’t realize it.

YOu are kidding yourself if you don't think your blogs are going anywhere but AR.

I am getting nearly 16,000 hits to my website monthly linked from AR.

And I am getting phone calls daily from my blog posts.

That my friends is CASH IN YOUR POCKET!

Nothing and I mean nothing in print or otherwise once it hits the net is private.  Makes one wonder who is looking at what we write and how they interpret it.

Kathy, it all started with AR. I was invited by Steve Hoffacker and did not participate for a long while. Then slowly it became a daily ritual. And, it works! By the way, thanks for the referral! Hope to return  the favor some day!

Is a platform. .where you stand up and shout to the world about your services. .

you annoy some

others fall in love with you

others just ignore you. .

You control how much, how many and the how. .

ActiveRain is just that . .

a powerful platform .

where you can make $0 or $1,000,000

depending  on your strategy and discipline

Good post Kathy.  I had thoughts about this before.  I found myself doing nothing but blogging to other Rainers in hopes of features.  That's great and all, but those posts don't pay the bills unless you get referrals.  I have focused on blogging more to the general public and potential clients.

One way to find out is to go to the statistics to see how many people have actually clicked through on the older public blogs. My numbers have gone way up since the blogs were written and commented on by AR members. That means that the public has found them since then.

Actually the real answer to WHO may see your blog is ANYONE. So always keep that in mind.

Hi Kathy -- very well said -- the possibilities with an ActiveRain Rainmaker account are definitely endless.

Carie- they don’t seem to end do they.  Loved your post on your AR MeetUp.

Jerry- you were smart!  If you’re here for leads and business, then you need to be a Rainmaker.

Bryan- isn’t it fun when you get a call from out of nowhere!

Charita- it helps to have a mentor to guide you through.

Jon- ok... did Roger pay you to say that?  Just kidding.  I thank you for your very kind words that have more than made my day.

Rich- there you go!  You never know who will ready your post and might become someone who know someone who knows someone!!!

James- and the comments are real.  You can log on most any day and you will read the same sentiment!  So... get that Rainmaker account and start making your posts count!

Nancy- I love reading the local posts here because I travel vicariously through them but look at what else they can bring.

Scott- trust me... read on.  There are some pretty successful agents here who aren’t here just for fun, although that is a by-product.  Keep blogging and commenting here... your referrals will come and the phone will ring.

Andrew- it would be akin to talking to a brick wall!

Tammie- and you never know... I bet she’s still reading your blog.

Ana- that was very sweet.  I rarely have written a Members Only post.  Even this one I kept public because you just never know who might be out there reading this and considering joining AR.

Jane- Welcome to ActiveRain!  And, yes, become a Rainmaker if your goal is to have your blog reach out to possible clients.

Connie- I agree.  I know of a member here whose blog was so successful that he had to take some time away from AR to handle the business it generated.

Donald - yes it does.  And think what happens when you reblog someone’s post!

Gayle- for sure.  I wish they’d had AR University when I began but I still take the webinars even though I’ve been here for a few years.

Joan- I bet everyone here can remember the first time they received a call from someone who had read one of their local posts.

Lou- thank you Lou.  Hope you’re having a great weekend.

Silvia- me too.  One of my clients said that she looked at the Internet and I kept coming up when she did her Google search.

Praful- thank you.  After I wrote the above part, I realized that for those who are not Rainmakers, the benefits would be diminished.

Kevin- Could have used you at the MeetUp I went to.  Your stats would have been convincing.

Pamela- right.  The point is this is a platform as well as a community.

James- Our words do live on after they’re out there and we have to look twice before we press send.

Richard & Beth- I have to stop by and thank James again!!!

Wayne- was going to contact you to see if she’d gotten in touch with you!

Fernand0 - absolutely, you can shout it out or not.  It’s your choice.

Scott- I’d never realized that many who are hesitant to start here are becuase they don’t realize the reach of the ActiveRain blogs.

Jared- wise you are Grasshopper!  The features are nice but they don’t necessarily make your phone ring.

Lyn- always.  And for those who are afraid to start, don’t be.

Hella- that’s a good reminder to go back to our older posts and look at the traffic.

Gary- always remember that!  You really never know.

Michael- and more importantly.... look at the limitations without one.

The fact that we're not just blogging to the members makes me cringe when I see an agent being snide - either in a post or in a comment.

They should remember that what they write here will be interpreted as a representation of their personality.
