I Did Not Get The Message!

Yesterday's featured post  Are We Confirmed? 

 has inspired me to share how I "train" those who I work with.

If you call, text or email me... I promise to get back to you.

I answer my phone, I answer my emails and I answer my texts. If you are making an appointment on one of listings...you will always be confirmed.

If you don't hear from me....consider that I did not receive your message.

You are  not allowed to say: " I left you a message three days ago and you did not call me back."

 

This is how I work. This is how I train and explain to everyone including buyers, sellers, friends, agents, lenders, title people and even ActiveRainers.

If you call or reach out to me, expect an answer or a response. If you don't hear back from me...

I've been making an amateur maistake lately.  Believe it or not after being in this business for 17 years twice I've sent back counter offers and didn't make sure they were received.  Well you know the rest of the story.

I recently started using Google Calender more. It has an option to add the emails addresses of the people involved in the meeting. When you save it you are given the option to send an email confirmation to all participants. I do that. It not only confirms the meeting but allows the participants to respond with a confirmation. I think it sets you apart from others. The response to doing this has been great,

I get my voicemail messages transcribed and I usually respond via a text which I have a signature line on with my NAME and web site link...rental prospects can follow the link in my text to my web site on their smartphone AND view properties....I want to communicate - just not via phone calls all the time.

Margaret, Ditto. I read yesterday's post, too. Just curious did the 'no subject' agent write contract after the showing? Or did he just disappear?

I always return phone calls . I have calls forwarded to my cell phone and this does not display caller ID so if they do not leave me their telephone number and I do not have it, I cannot call them back.

Sheila, My way sounds a bit better. However when I don't make an appointment on time, I refer to myself as the Late Margaret Rome.

Mary, There is interest but no contract yet.

Gita, Of course you always return phone calls. This covers you when someone does not leave a message or the number is not clear.

Hi Margaret -- sound advice.   I'm always amazed when I call another agent and it goes to voicemail but there is no mention of a name --- just a number -- did I get the right person?   I'm not waiting three days to see if someone gets my message, I'll be calling back(or use other methods) a lot quicker for a response.

Hi Margaret, Great advise you give.  There is never any harm in re-sending a message to ensure there is a response.  We are all busy and bombarded with messages from all around, it is so easy for a message to get lost in the mix.

Margaret, I always follow up with another method of verification. Too many things can go wrong and the agent never get the message.
