Software Review for Total Screen Recorder

It is clear that if you are in real estate you need to have a presence on YouTube.  Since Google and YouTube are the world's most used search engines it only makes sense when marketing real estate you will want to have a presence in both venues.  If you are marketing seller's homes you will might want to post a YouTube tour of their home.  You can also generate leads from YouTube just as you do from Google.  One way to lead generate on YouTube is to post driving tours through sub-divisions.  Another smart use of YouTube  might be to post market reports about sub-divisions - which is what I decided to this morning.

Since PowerPoint easily manages text, graphs and images, I thought it would be the perfect platform for creating a market update presentation about waterfront homes sold in Annapolis Maryland.  Searching for solutions on how to record PowerPoint to video I came across Total Screen Recorder.  This seemed like the perfect software for what I was looking to do and the company offered a trail version (even better!).

The first challenge I had was to match my PowerPoint presentation with the 16:9 aspect ratio players found in YouTube.  PowerPoint slide show presentation mode is not YouTube friendly.  So in PowerPoint I created a master background using the 16:9 ratio and adjusted the presentation template to fit inside the aspect ratio.  Total Screen Recorder has a user defined capture area which is perfect to grabbing just the area of the the PowerPoint slide presentation I wanted for playback in my videos.  Once I specified the region to capture, I was off and running. After several takes I was capturing output like a pro in WMV format for use with use with Windows Live Movie Maker.

Below is the Total Screen Recorder user interface.  You can also minimize and even hide the interface so as not to interfere with screen capture.

Total Screen Recorder - User Interface

Pros

Easy to download and install.  Total Screen Recorder was a snap to setup.

You can record your screen in several formats including AVI, WMV, SWF, LV.

User definable regions for screen capture.  There are defined regions, such as 640 x 480 or 1024 x 768, as well as user defined regions.

Easy to use starting with it simple software interface.

Cons

Total Screen Recorder has detected that "hardware acceleration" is enabled.  On screen instruction don't match my installation of Windows 7, so I'm not yet sure what to do about that.

Offers more options that you might ever use or need (I'm not sure this is a pro or a con).

In conclusion

The Total Screen Recorder is powerful, easy to use and meets all my needs for slide-show video capture.  I highly recommend that if you are looking for straight forward, easy to use, affordably priced, software program to capture video files of you computer screen in real time, this is the program to get. Click here to see my first attempt at posting a market report about Annapolis Maryland waterfront homes for sale.

BTW, there is a "sneak mode" to capture screen activities on Windows start up.  I'll have to experiment with this option.  All-in-all Total Screen Recorder met my requirements for ease of use, simple installation, and delivered the video clips that I wanted to incorporate in my videos.  So if you are looking for a flexible video screen capture program, please try Total Screen Recorder.

Solid information; I've been doing most of my business on an iPad, so I would need to find something that would work on the OS platform.

That seems like a good way to capture information created in other programs.  Good luck working out the bugs!
