I Voluntarily Walked My Drugs Into The West Linn Police Station

That's right, I gathered up mWest Linn Police Stationy drugs and took them down to the West Linn Police Station on my own. I decided to clean up my cabinet where I store all my over the counter as well as prescription medicines and was really not surprised to find some in there that have expired. I figured if I had cans in my pantry from 2005 ( I know..bad), my medicine cabinet had to be just as bad.

Trying to stop the improper disposal of medications, the West Linn and the Tualatin police stations I might add have installed drop off boxes for ease of disposal. I know after my Shadow passed last year, I was sitting on some heavy narcotics like Prozac that I didn't want to flush down the toilet for fear that they would get in the water supply, so this was perfect!

Go ahead, clean out your medicine cabinet and hopefully you won't find meds from 2005! I voluntarily walked my drugs into the West Linn police station...you can too!

Good for you - such a responsible thing to do. It is the best and only way to safely discard medicine. We often forget the legal drugs can be just as lethal as the illegal variety.

Hope you're busy with business Cindy Lou.

I had no idea there was such a program anywhere, But I do not poses any medications.  I will like to re-blog after I find out if we have such a prescription drug disposal center in MD or DC.

Great idea but I know for a fact that if its a drug you still need that the exploration date is often wrong because they want to sell you more. If you need a med and it is one or two years out it is probably ok.

I have heard many police stations advertise this great program and not putting drugs into our water is the responsible thing to do so Cindy you are awesome.

This is true in Washington State as well. As a firefighter my husband has had to direct people as to where to drop drugs off. Call ahead and make sure the place you are taking them, accept them or tell you where a safe place is to drop them off.

Hi Debb, I think they can almost be worse because they are not thought to be dangerous. I feel good that they are out of my house and will be safely desposed of. I've been blessed to be busy..It feels great!

Hi Noah, I agree with you on being able to use some drugs that are a little past their noted expiration date..I've heard they are just not as strong. I just had some drugs from a past surgury as well as some my dog was on that passed last October. No need to keep them around so this worked out great.

That's great, Cindy. I remember writing about that once - to no longer flush medicines down the toilet. It gets into the water supply, like you said.
