I was in San Francisco yesterday, capping my awful travel week. I was on planes Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Yuck.

I gave a speech about Zillow to the Thomas Weisel Partners Internet Conference. As usual when I give a presentation to Wall Street types, there was the usual chorus of encouragement to "go after the Realtors, kill the 6%". Sigh. A virtual replay of my Harvard Business School speech a few weeks ago. Fortunately, compared with B-school audiences, this group of money managers is more in tune with the huge online advertising opportunity of a major media site in the real estate category so my explanations about how Zillow's strategy is not antagonistic to agents was well-received. I guess people mellow out a few years after business school and start to look at business opportunities more objectively and less emotionally. Anyway, it was a very warm reception and The Street continues to anxiously watch the Zillow story unfold. As usual, I was inundated with money managers who want to invest in the online real estate sector but aren't enamored with the current public market opportunities available to them.
