Walk Your Dog For a Good CAWS...The Annual Delta, CO Strut Your Mutt. The Delta County, Colorado Citizens for Animal Welfare and Shelter ( CAWS ) is gearing up for it's spring fundraiser. The CAWS Strut Dog Walk-a-thon is coming up on May 4th, 2013.

The CAWS Strut Dog Walk-a-thon is a fun time for a great cause. No pun intended. Bear and I did the 5K walk last year, and we plan to do it again this year. This is a non competitive walk, but there are some fun contests when the walk is over. You can visit the CAWS website for more information.

Last year CAWS took over running the Delta County Animal Shelter and this event helps raise money towards keeping the shelter operating. You can find out more about this great group on the CAWS website. CAWS also offers discounted spay and neuters. CAWS is a no kill facility.

As I said, Bear and I did the walk last year. We were joined by our friends, Sue and Madison. Madison is the short one. She won a prize for best costume because she loves to wear her Harley Davidson goggles and leather cap. Bear prefers to eat leather rather than to wear it.

The CAWS Strut Dog Walk-a-thon is a nice way to get out and have fun with your dog, and a great way to help a local charity. I hope to see you there.

Hi, Joe...I love to do these types of events, too. The animal charities are near and dear to my heart. That started back in the 1980s when I adopted my first shelter dog from a no kill shelter.

Hi, Kwee...Thanks for stopping by. We had a lot of fun last year. As long as I'm not showing property, Bear and I will be doing the event again this year, or at least volunteering. Here's a picture of Bear eating my daughter's homework. He just reached his head in her backpack and grabbed this paper, then he ran outside with it while we all laughed. What a dog!!!
