Ten Great Places to Wine & Dine Around the Arizona Biltmore

It would be too easy to name restaurants inside the Arizona Biltmore Hotel so I am purposely leaving those out. I have lived in the area for 35 years so I have seen the eateries come and go and since I live in the area now and love to eat I have a pretty good nose for good food, so trust me.....you can trust me.

1.    Tarbells: I love this place! At the southeast corner of 32nd & Camelback this place is a great place to eat a fine meal, and they don't hold back when they pour a drink either. Give Tarbells a chance and you won't regret it a bit. I ate there a few weeks ago; had the porkchops and a gin & tonic. When  left I was feeling good.

2.    Delux: If you love a great hamburger with a gourmet trist this is a must have. Get the burger with the always hot and crunchy fries and have one of there beers on tap (I like the various IPA's).

3.    La Grande Orange Pizzeria at 40th & Campbell. Sourdough crust and great topings. Food is off the hook and so is the people watching.

4.    Thai Lahna: Located at 38th & IndianSchool. Same guy who owns this does the cooking and I have NEVER had a meal there that I didn't walk away licking my chops.

5.    Mama Mia's Pizza: 40th & Indian School. I think you can still get a couple of slices here with a soda for under five bucks. The crust is crispy (never soggy) and it is a great joint. Try it for lunch.

6.    Duck & Decanter: at 16th & Camelback behind the Starbucks. I worked here when I was a kid; it was the best sanny then and it is still the best sandwhich today. Sit on the porch and enjoy a bottle of wine with a friend.

7.    Miracle Mile Deli: at 20th & Camelback in the Colonade. When you first get there at lunch-time you'll think it will take forever to get through the line, but they are fast. Anyhow, you might not get a better hot pastrami sandwhich in the Bronx.

8.    Camelback Inn at 54th & Lincoln Drive: This is a fantastic place to go for happy hour on the patio and have a darned good margarita for 5 bucks. The surroundings are incredible with views of Camelback Mountain and Marriott quality touches. Do it, you won't regret it.

9.    Hermosa Inn at Palo Cristi & Stanford: The Santa Fe Style architecture is lovely and this is a place where you can spend a great happy hour and then dine at Lon's for a truely gourmet dinner that will keep you wanting.

10.                       Vincent's Bistro at 40th & Camelback is the deal of the century. Vincent is probably still the best chef in the valley and the meals in the Bistro at breakfast, lunch, or dinner are way to good for words.

I hope this list makes you happy and if you like the food enough to make you want to find a place in or around the Biltmore you should take a look at the homes & communities in the Arizona Biltmore. If you need a knowledgeable agent who is happy to help you out please give John a call at 602-558-3843.

Eric, agent who sits next to me likes that too, and I just can't bring myself to ditch the pastrami for turkey.

Rich, One place that I forgot to put on the list is Richardsons: New Mexican, and very very tastey

Sharon, If you do roll into town my wife and I would love to treat you to drinks at Camelback Inn. :o)

Mike, Sure Mike; there are lots of other great places too.
