Brandon FL Meals on Wheels

Brandon Meals on Wheel LogoVolunteers from Brandon Meals on Wheels will receive meals instead of delivering them at the nonprofit's annual spring luncheon at 12:15 p.m. Thursday  April 18th at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, 2102 Bell Shoals Road.

All volunteers from the 18 Brandon, FL-area member churches are invited to attend.

The organization will recognize volunteers for their work within the organization and special service awards will be presented. A highlight of the annual luncheon will be the presentation of Greater Brandon Meals on Wheels Volunteer of the Year Award, chosen by the board of directors.

Serving the Brandon community since 1976, Brandon Meals on Wheels provides nourishing noontime meals that are prepared and delivered to homebound neighbors by volunteers from participating member churches, Monday through Friday. The program is maintained through client contributions, support from member churches and donations from the community. The organization receives no government funding. Clients are referred through churches, family, physicians, neighbors or friends. Recipients are screened to verify need and selected through guidelines established by the program.

As the need for this service continues to grow, Meals on Wheels is searching for additional churches to become part of this vital community program. To learn more, contact Jim McNeil, president of Greater Brandon Meals on Wheels, at First Presbyterian Church of Brandon, (813) 689-4597.
