Oregon Health and Science University a major Coup For the Florida Treasure Coast area

Per an article In the TC Palm newspaper, Port St. Lucie has committed to providing $53 million in improvements in the 120-acre research park that will house Torrey Pines and the Oregon Health & Science University’s Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute. In addition, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist has asked the Legislature to allocate $60 million from the Florida Innovation Fund.
Local officials added that aside from directly creating 200 jobs, the Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute should also lead to new jobs that will support the company’s scientists and staff.
Additionally, a new hospital will also be a logical spin-off from the institute, Torrey Pines and Mann, per City Councilman Christopher Cooper.
