Who wants their website to show up first whenever someone does a Google search for their product or service?
My guess is pretty much every business that has an online presence. Even real estate agents want to be towards the top, which is why many of us blog on Active Rain. We all want 'Google Jucie."
Nobody outside of Google knows for "sure" exactly how web sites get ranked when a consumer uses a search engine. There are, however, two keys to getting a web site the best chances to get high "Search Engine" rankings.
Link Love - Web sites that appear to be an "authority or expert" on a given topic are more likely to rank higher than sites with little authority. The best way to get authority is to get a lot of links to your web site. The more links the better, and the more authority those links have, the better.
Many realtors and other business owners do a great job of "liking" the Facebook pages of their friends and colleagues, and then asking them to "like their page bavk.
A similar concept can be done with linking to get web sites more visibility from the search enginers.
Link to my web site or blog, and I will link back yours. Also encourage your friends to link to your web site or blog, and do the same for them.
Relevance - This is where great content comes into play. Produce outstanding content. Drive traffic to your web site, get more links, and improve your rankins with the search engines as a result.
