The One Thing book review
Having seen Gary Keller and Jay Papsan at the Keller Williams Family Reunion in Dallas TX back in February discussing The One Thing. They went over the book discussing many of the topics and research done for the book. I was surprised to see a 5 hour window to hear the founder of Keller Williams and thought it might be a mis pirnt. However, Gary spoke with passion for 5 hours on the book with only one short break. 2 of the examples given in the book were brought on stage. The artist who does a painting a day was painting for the entire 5 hours and completed 2 and a half portraits during the speech. This was of course his One Thing.
The second example was an Italian tour guide who loved showing off what made his country great. His clients included Oprah Winfrey amongst other big names. He is requested by people as his One Thing was highlighting Italy better than anyone else.
My big take away or ahha moment was walking through the vendor area at family reunion. I had decided a while back to implement eEdge and have all of marketing funnel through that site. So as I walked through the vendor area, I was freed from having to stop by booths that conflicted with that One Thing. With several hundred vendors vying for my business, I could now focus on those that benefitted my One Thing Strategy with eEdge.
Having bought the book at Family Reunion and reading it through I have made several key decisions to help grow my business this year. The biggest decision I made was to hire an adiministrative assistant. I can now hand off the details required to be dealt with from contract signing to closing. My One Thing will be to drive more leads to signed contracts and lead generation.
The question they have you ask yourself in any situation is amazingly simple. What is the One Thing I can do that makes everything else easier or unnecessary to do.
